A fabulous beachfront holiday home in Devon, overlooking the award-winning beach at Bigbury-on-Sea. ‘Stargazy’ sleeps eight with a contemporary coastal interior. It boasts an incredible rear terrace and sunny front balcony, offering idyllic dining, lounging and bar areas.
The open planned living space includes sliding glass doors that open directly onto a sunny front balcony with beautiful views of Bigbury bay. The doors encourage lots of natural light into the room, making it glow throughout the day. The living area is in keeping with the ‘beach hut’ vibe of the property with rustic and nautical décor. There are two comfortable sofas, a TV, lots of games, and ample space to keep the whole group relaxed and entertained. The kitchen is large and open, with everything you need to cook up a feast. The kitchen will be supplied with t-towels and a sundry pack.
The property is home to four bedrooms. The master is home to a super king bed and en-suite. The other bedrooms consist of a king bed, twin beds, and one smaller bunkbed room. All rooms throughout the property are decorated with a nautical and beach theme, giving them a cosy but fun feel.
The top deck is what sets Stargazy apart from any other property in the village, with a giant L-shaped outdoor sofa (seating nine), coffee table, long teak table and ten chairs.
What is more impressive than anything, though, is The Stargazy Arms! Your own bar with the best view in the South Hams. Take a seat on one of the six tall wicker stools and enjoy a chilled drink while one of your guests plays bartender. There is an under-counter fridge, a freezer for ice, optics on the wall and a wine rack. The Stargazy Arms is stocked with gin, vodka, rum, and soft drinks, with an honesty bar for anything you use. With Wi-Fi, a dart board, and a Sonos speaker, it is sure to keep everyone entertained. There is a charcoal barbeque and plenty of cushions in the spacious shed to set the top deck up for the perfect sunny day without even leaving the house!
At the rear of the house, there is an outdoor shower. Perfect for rinsing off sandy feet after a day on the beach.
Directly opposite Stargazy is the sandy beach at Bigbury-on-Sea, one of Devon’s best beaches.
If you are an Agatha Christie fan, you will have heard of, or may recognise, the iconic Burgh Island from one of her novels. You can access the island and Pilchard Inn pub via the stretch of sand that links them to the mainland. Walk the stretch at shallow waters or use the sea tractor at high tide – it is an experience in itself! Venus Cafe, located in the beach car park, can provide delicious food and drink for your adventures.
Bigbury-on-Sea Beach offers an array of water sports to try including surfing and SUP. Check out Discovery Surf School to book a lesson or rent equipment. Or head across to Bantham Beach to try kite surfing.
Bigbury Golf Club is located just up the road, providing the opportunity to play on one of the most idyllic of coastal courses overlooking stunning ocean views. With the property seated along the South West Coast Path, Stargazy is a perfect place to explore what the South Hams has to offer by either foot or car.
Stargazy is a single-story beach house, accessed by way of a set of steps to the side of the building. This house is not suitable for anyone who struggles with steps, nor any pre-school children.
This is coastal living at its absolute best at the beautiful Bigbury-On-Sea in Devon! Enjoy breakfasts on the balcony, barbeques on the top terrace, and afternoons sunbathing or lounging around. Stargazy is directly opposite the slipway to the beach – less than a minute’s walk!
