Skerries is a stunning detached house close to the heart of the sought-after coastal village of Strete. Carefully refurbished, it offers stylish, generous accommodation with far-reaching sea views from large windows and a wonderfully flexible layout, making it an ideal base for families or groups holidaying together in South Devon.

At the heart of the home is a large, sociable country-style kitchen with dining table, leather sofa and TV. Sliding doors open directly onto the terrace, creating a perfect space for shared meals, relaxed mornings and sunny afternoons. In the evenings, retreat to the cosy sitting room, where a glowing open fire and glass terrace doors create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

A real bonus of Skerries is the additional spacious sitting/games room on the lower ground floor, providing a second lounge where family members can spread out, relax or enjoy moments away from the main living space and take advantage of the pool and darts area. This level also benefits from direct access to a lower terrace and an additional shower room.

The five bedrooms are comfortably arranged across the ground and first floors, offering flexibility and privacy. On the first floor, you’ll find a king-size bedroom with dressing room and large bathroom, a further king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room, and a family room with three single beds and its own en-suite shower. On the ground floor are two further bedrooms: a king-size double and a double bedroom with balcony access. A family bathroom with bath and shower completes the accommodation.

Outside, the safely enclosed garden wraps around the house and offers a variety of spaces to enjoy throughout the day. A sunny terrace is perfect for evening drinks with coastal views, while the more private Mediterranean-style areas invite exploration and quiet moments.

Skerries is ideally located for making the most of South Devon. If you don’t feel like cooking, stroll to the village restaurant, or head into nearby Dartmouth, where you’ll find excellent eateries, a cinema, river boat trips and the steam railway. The charming shingle beach at Strete is close by, and the South West Coast Path leads to secluded coves and popular beaches such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands.

Skerries is ideally located in the heart of South Devon, perfectly placed for exploring the beautiful coastline around Torcross, Slapton and Blackpool Sands. With easy access to the South West Coast Path, you can set out on foot in either direction to discover dramatic coastal scenery, secluded coves and sweeping sea views, with plenty of welcoming pubs and cafés along the way.

The shingle beach at Torcross and the wide expanse of Slapton Sands are both close by, while the golden sands of Blackpool Sands are just a short drive away, making Skerries an excellent base for beach lovers. Whether you’re swimming, paddleboarding, walking or simply soaking up the views, there’s a beach to suit every mood.

Nearby villages offer local shops and a good selection of eateries, while the bustling towns of Kingsbridge and Dartmouth are within easy reach for larger supermarkets, independent shops, restaurants and river activities.

The area is also rich in history. Torcross is home to a poignant World War Two landmark, the Sherman Tank on the beach, commemorating the tragic events of Exercise Tiger in 1943. For nature lovers, Slapton Ley Field Centre provides fascinating insight into the local wildlife and the unique ecosystem that makes this stretch of coastline so special.
