DART MUSIC FESTIVAL

This free music festival finds itself in the heart of Dartmouth.  Live music is hosted in venues across the town, so you can explore whilst listening to array of different sounds.  From folk music to church choirs to blues, if music is your thing, there will be something for you.  Local schools are involved, putting on an array of performances across the weekend.  With over 80 acts performing over the course of the weekend, pay this one a visit and you will be in for a treat.

DARTMOUTH FOOD FESTIVAL

If you are looking for a loved event near Slapton and Torcross this Autumn, then Dartmouth Food Festival is the one for you.  This festival hosts workshops, seminars, and demonstrations from local and top chefs to provide insight into the world of cheffing.  Exhibitors are dotted around Dartmouth showing off the best and finest of locally produced food, drinks, and goodies.  With celebrity chefs, parties, food markets and tasting shacks, this free landmark event is definitely on the culinary calendar.

DARTMOUTH ROYAL REGATTA

This well-known regatta attracts thousands of visitors from all over.  It is one of the oldest regattas in the country, with rowing and sailing at its core.  Spectate or get involved in the various races, competitions and events taking place during the week.  From a road race to a tennis tournament and swimming gala.  Or ice cream eating, crabbing and pavement artist competitions.  There is lots to choose from.  There is an excellent firework display alongside live music and a fair in the Dartmouth carpark.  There is always so much going on for all ages to enjoy!

DARTMOUTH SHAKESPEARE WEEK

This unique theatre experience is a cultural highlight of the summer in Dartmouth.  Each year the Inn Theatre Company puts together a Shakespeare production, performed at Dartmouth Castle.  This group was started by friends who thought it would be a good idea to put on an open-air production.  It has grown into a much-loved annual event in the Dartmouth calendar, choosing a new Shakespeare production each year to perform.  Its growth is shown by Michael Corbridge, a senior voice and text consultant to the Royal Shakespeare Company, becoming their patron in 2014.

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF WORMCHARMING

If you are looking for a unique event near Slapton and Torcross, then this is the event to check out.  This internationally renowned event was voted “Europe’s Most Unmissable Festival” by Australian journalist Grant Mills in 2014.  No experience is needed to take part, so head on down to join in the fun or simply just spectate.  Go laden with potions and contraptions to try and beat the current record of 149 worms.  Fancy dress is encouraged.

KINGSBRIDGE FAIR WEEK

This free week along event is packed with a whole programme of activities to be enjoyed by all ages.  Take part in one of the many races throughout the week.  Enjoy some delicious food and drink at the teddy bear’s picnic.  Take a trip on a ride at the funfair.  The week begins with the crowing of the Fair Queen and closes with a carnival procession and lantern parade. 

KINGSBRIDGE FOOD AND MUSIC FESTIVAL

This free event aims to be a weekend long party for locals and visitors.  A stone’s throw from Bigbury-On-Sea, pay it a visit for some delicious locally produced food and excellent live music.  For tastes, smells, and sounds, this is an event not to miss.  Enjoy exploring the diverse range of culinary and acoustic treats.  Keep the children entertained with a range of activities from craft workshops and face painting to a children’s disco. 

KINGSBRIDGE SHOW

A fantastic day out for all the family. There are events taking place in the main ring all day.  A children’s corner, a pet corner and donkey rides.  Have a browse through the selection of modern and vintage tractors.  Walk through the hundreds of trades, craft, and food and drink stands.  Enjoy the horses, cattle and sheep that are competing or for sale.  Chat to some of the Young Farmers and admire the floral art and horticulture.  With live music and a licensed bar, it is a day of exploring the life of many who live in the local area.

SALCOMBE CRAB FESTIVAL

This festival celebrates Salcombe’s fishing and tourist industries.  With chef demonstrations, talks and tuitions alongside exhibitors and live music, it is a delightful day out for any foodie.  Fancy a go at crab pot making? Or taking part in a crab picking masterclass? Or sitting back and learning from some excellent local and award-winning chefs?  This is the place.  This family friendly festival is free to all, with street stalls and activities for everyone. 

TUNES ON THE SANDS

This festival is set on the beautiful golden sand of Blackpool Sands.  It is a multi-day music festival set in an incredible location, allowing you to enjoy the wonders of the South West coast whilst listening to an excellent selection of music.  With the ocean a stone’s throw away, this is quite simply a unique event.  It hosts a mix of local artists as well as big names.  Enjoy a cold beverage in the sun whilst listening to some excellent tunes right on the sand.  And if you need to take a break from the dancing and cool off, take a dip in the refreshing waters of the beach, or sit back and relax with a bit of sunbathing, all whilst still enjoying the music.
