A relaxing place to stay
A relaxing place to stay a short drive from a selection of beaches. The children were thrilled with the loft room to play in. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in both sunshine and rain.

Amazing stay, absolutely beautiful surroundings with everything we needed for our holiday. The barn was exactly like the pictures, we couldn’t have wanted anything more. Brilliant all round. We would definitely book again.

We spent a lovely two weeks in the Hen House. The rooms were a good size, and the open plan kitchen, dining and living room was great. The decking area was lovely, and we VERY much enjoyed the company of the two seemingly resident, very friendly, cats: they were very good, and didn’t try to come inside [very often!]). The only reason for the lack of a five star review is that we ran out of hot water quite a lot. There were three adults and two kids (older teenagers), and with trips to the beach etc, hot showers were not always possible when we needed them. Overall, a stunning spot, and we’d definitely go back.

We had a lovely, peaceful stay at this converted barn in the Devon countryside. The property is open-plan, spacious, and airy, offering a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere from the moment you step inside. The countryside scenery of rolling hills was beautiful. We loved spending our mornings sipping coffee and evenings unwinding on the outdoor seating area. There was even enough lawn space for a fun game of badminton! The children enjoyed visiting the resident cows and pigs on the farm as well as the daily visits from two super friendly cats who made the place feel like home. While tucked away in tranquility, it’s ideally situated with plenty of amenities nearby. It served as a perfect base for day trips, with short drives to: Blackpool Sands & Hope Cove for gorgeous coastal views and beach days Dartmouth Castle for history and scenic farm charm with easy access to the coast, this place is hard to beat.

The place is beautiful. In the middle of a farm. The kids had a small area to play as well. It is very well located.
We have enjoyed it a lot
We have been there with 1 toddler and a baby for two days. We have enjoyed it a lot. The farm was next to our house. The house was very clean as shown in the photos. However we have struggled to find a halal spot to eat near there.

We had a lovely time. Everything was as described. It's a beautiful, quiet location. The roads in the area are quite narrow, so you should allow some extra time for getting around, but it's really perfect for people who love country life.

The Hen House was really modern and clean. Very well equipped and comfortable. Lovely place to stay for a weekend away.
We had a great time
We had a great time here despite the weather not being the best. The house had everything we needed, although a bbq would be nice, particularly if it had been warmer. We enjoyed seeing the animals and being so remote the stars on a clear night were amazing and we were treated to a wonderful rainbow against the beautiful Devon hills one evening. Once you get used to the narrow roads everywhere is accessible and we managed to visit most of the main nearby towns. The walk to Start Point lighthouse is stunning, although it wasnt open to see inside but spotting dolphins down below well made up for it!
Coming back next year!
Perfect location, perfect accommodation and very responsive hosts. We had a lovely but brief time here but enjoyed so much that we are already planning our return next year, but will definitely stay for longer next time. Thank you so much

Really Lovely place to stay. Kids loved the animals On the farm. Comfortable, everything we needed for our stay. Kids loved playing in the attic space. Nice and quiet. Close to Dartmouth/Salcombe. Would definitely stay again.
Stunning location.
Stunning location. The view is beautiful and so, so peaceful. Friendly cats, ducks, pigs, cows and sheep made this place extra special. Accommodation is clean, modern, comfortable and well equipped. Enjoyed complimentary Prosecco and coffee - thank you! So close to Slapton sands and Blackpool sands which are both beautiful. Approx 30mins to Salcombe which was holding their annual regatta during our visit so had lots of little craft stalls. We enjoyed a scrummy pizza overlooking the water there and highly recommend Primo Pizza as much quieter than surrounding restaurants as a little hidden. We also enjoyed a day at Bigbury on sea and Burgh island which was amazing!!!! Super shallow water for ages, rock pools to explore, Burgh island walk which serves up the most gorgeous views. We took the children to Woodlands theme park on the day of our arrival as check-in is 4pm and there was so much to do! Lots of animals, rides and more.

We had a great stay
We had a great stay and would definitely go back! It's a lovely, modern house with gorgeous views and is on a farm (so great for kids to see the tractors / cows / pigs in the mornings!). A friendly cat visited us all the time too. It's so close to the beach at Torcross (and the Start Bay Inn for great fish and chips) and well located for Salcombe / Dartmouth etc. The two bathrooms were really useful. The only things to note are that the third bedroom is an alcove room (i.e. no door). It's such a beautiful part of the world!
Fantastic place!
We had such a fantastic stay here - probably our favourite Devon spot to date - the kids loved staying at The Hen House, being right on the farm and being greeted by the sheep and getting to see the calves. The space was perfect for us with 3 kids, very comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. Everything had been thought of and we were in an ideal location, close to so many beautiful beaches and attractions - we loved having breakfast at Stokely farm shop 12 min drive away, always the best fish & chips from the Start Bay Inn and our trip to Pennywell farm was brilliant. We would definitely love to stay here again!

"We loved the Hen House and it was spotless. It was perfect for our family of 4 and would easily and comfortably host 3 kids with parents. We had amazing weather and spent several days at Bantham Beach, a day at Start Point and a day at Woodlands theme park. The farm was great fun for the kids - they saw newborn calves, collected duck eggs and climbed hay bales with Albert. Thank you - we had the most fantastic stay and hope to return next summer!"
