With two spacious bedrooms, Boathouse Cottage comfortably sleeps four. The ground-floor master features a built-in wardrobe, while the upstairs bedroom can be arranged with two singles or a king (on request). There is a modern bathroom with a generous shower on the ground floor, with an additional upstairs toilet for added convenience.

Outside, a small patio provides the perfect spot to breathe in the fresh sea air and soak up the views, whether with your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. Important Local Information – Torcross Sea Defence Works:
Guests considering a stay should be aware that the Environment Agency is undertaking a significant programme of sea defence improvements at Torcross. These important works are designed to help protect the village and coastline for the future.
Preparatory works are expected to begin from September 2026, with the Tank car park being used as the contractor’s compound and therefore unavailable for public parking. Subject to the necessary final approvals, construction of the new rock armour is expected to begin from around mid-October 2026, continuing through the autumn and winter, with further works around the car park and slipway planned for spring 2027.
During this period there may be some construction activity, noise and temporary changes to beach access in the immediate Torcross area. The public footpath around the contractor compound is expected to remain accessible, although access to parts of the beach may vary as the works progress.
Torcross, Slapton Sands and the wider South Hams remain very much open to visitors, and the works form part of an important long-term project to safeguard this very special stretch of coastline. We simply want guests to be aware of the project before booking so that they can plan their stay accordingly.

Parking:
The property has no parking on site; however, there is free parking located 20 yards from the property (subject to availability).  There are also plenty of parking spaces located along the road and within the beach car park, controlled by the Pay by Phone App.  You can pull up to unload in front of the property.

A379 Access:
Due to recent storm damage to the main road between Slapton and Torcross we advise that you enter via the town of Kingsbridge. Full details will be sent in pre-arrival details.

Pets:
We welcome well behaved dogs who want to come and enjoy the beach all year long. We do ask that you are respectful and clear up any mess and refrain from allowing them to use the furniture. There are towels and blankets in a box above the washing machine under the stairs for your use.

Rental Conditions:
Prior to your stay, we require you to complete a pre-arrival form and sign & agree to our rental conditions.

Boathouse Cottage is located halfway between the nearby towns of Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. Overlooking Torcross Beach, this cottage finds itself on the South West Coast Path. Explore the coastline on foot in either direction, towards Blackpool Sands or Start Point Lighthouse. The views are spectacular with many great pubs and restaurants along the way before returning to your idyllic coastal cottage.

Within walking distance of this coastal cottage, you will find a local shop and a great selection of pubs and eateries. For a big supermarket, head into the local towns of Kingsbridge or Dartmouth.

The area is home to its own unique World War Two history. Make sure to check out the Sherman Tank located in the beach car park and learn the moving story of what took place here in 1943.

Torcross Beach is one of the UK’s dog friendly beaches, so make sure to bring your pooch along for your trip to Devon! It is the perfect place to relax, swim, walk or paddleboard. On top of being a popular beach to both visitors and locals alike, it plays an important part in the survival of some of the UK’s rarest flora and fauna. Head to Slapton Ley Field Centre to learn about the local wildlife.
