From the moment we walked through the doors, we were welcomed by the wonderful Indie, whose character and enthusiasm instantly set the tone for an immersive adventure. Indie didn’t just greet us, Indie brought us into the world of the escape rooms, helping us feel part of the story right from the briefing.
Into the Mystery: “Death on Dartmoor”
Our first escape room was Death on Dartmoor, a gripping detective-style challenge with high stakes and clever storytelling. Designed around a mysterious robbery and a looming hostage situation, this room tasks you with piecing together clues and unmasking the culprits before time runs out.
We jumped straight into the action after Indie’s briefing, choose our outfits and got to work. This room was fast-paced and exciting, one of those experiences that really gets your brain firing on all cylinders. I’ll admit, we needed a few helpful nudges in the right direction, but with teamwork and a bit of direction, we escaped with just 15 seconds to spare! What a rush.
Refuel at Coffee Couture ☕
After the intensity of our first room, we headed around the corner to Coffee Couture for a well-deserved coffee break. It was the perfect way to unwind, chat about our strategies (and near misses!), and gear up for the next challenge.
Into the Bunker: “D-Day for Devon”
Recharged and ready, we returned to Devon Escape for our second experience: D-Day for Devon. Set in 1942, this room’s wartime theme was seriously cool, complete with bunker-style props and a sense of historical urgency.
It didn’t feel like just another puzzle room. Instead, we were part of a mission: cracking codes, decoding communications, and working against an invisible clock with the spirit of the Home Guard cheering us on. The atmosphere was immersive and meticulously crafted and it gave us a completely different kind of challenge to tackle.
Looking Ahead: New Rooms on the Horizon
One of the most exciting parts of our visit was hearing Indie talk about the new room currently in development upstairs. With the creativity on display already at Devon Escape, we can hardly wait to experience it once it’s complete!
