Watching the boats glide by with a morning coffee – and later as the sun set with a glass of wine – was pure indulgence. The interiors feel luxurious without being overstated: soft textures, high-end furnishings, and a calming, neutral palette that instantly made us feel relaxed and at home. Every room was immaculate, with spacious bedrooms, indulgent bathrooms, and a living area that felt both sociable and serene. The kitchen and dining space were a particular highlight, ideal for hosting and long, laughter-filled evenings together. It’s the kind of place where you effortlessly slip into holiday mode – whether you’re cooking, chatting, or simply soaking in the view. The location is unbeatable. Being so close to the heart of Dartmouth while still feeling private and exclusive made it the perfect base for exploring the town, enjoying riverside walks, and visiting local restaurants and boutiques. Overall, this property delivered a five-star experience in every sense. Stylish, comfortable, tranquil and superbly located – it felt like a true escape and a place we’ll all be talking about for a long time to come. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Beautiful apartment in a great location with easy access to everything. Warm, cozy, the bed was very comfortable and all amenities (shower, bath, heating, etc.) lovely and easy to use. A great stay for me and my partner x
Ferryman’s Rest is an amazing property in the heart of Dartmouth. The interior quality is amazing and stylish whilst also very comfortable, especially the beds and bedding. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Just back from a short break away in The River Shack. Felt a million miles away and was great to just sit and relax and enjoy the views. Lovely apartment in a great location easily accessible to walk into town. We didn’t have a problem with parking nearby. The views are outstanding, wonderful sunrises. Facilities, appliances etc are of a high standard, comfortable beds & well equipped with all you need for a self catering holiday. We enjoyed our week so much we’ve booked for next year!

We came for a much needed break and Lower Heywood was the perfect place to relax and unwind. We loved the roll top bath, powerful shower and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. The food festival was a bonus for a wonderful town that has a special place in our hearts as we got engaged here 32 years ago. We enjoyed a farm shop breakfast at Stokely as well as visiting Burgh Island and walking from Dartmouth to Blackpool Sands along the coast path. Paul was very quick to respond to any questions we had and would thoroughly recommend Devon Escapes wholeheartedly!
Boathouse cottage is a gem! A beautiful cottage in the perfect location. The cottage is beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything you need. And what a view!

Just got back from an amazing stay at 8 Dartmouth Grove. Views were simply amazing, had a lovely sunrise in the morning to enjoy. The lodge is finished to a high standard which made it an enjoyable place to unwind and relax. The hot tub was also a lovely luxury which should definitely be booked. Hosts very responsive and accommodating - already looking to book again for next year.
We really enjoyed staying at King Alf's above Alfie Resco's café in Dartmouth, (a superb breakfast 'on the doorstep' every morning is not to be sniffed at!) Its' central location in Dartmouth is perfect, together with free parking in the Mayor's Avenue car park. The room itself was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed.
We had a wonderful stay in Thurlestone - a long weekend - Thurs to Monday and despite Storm Amy we had some good times on the beach and local farm park attractions. The home was wonderfully appointed and had everything we needed and even suitable toys for the 18 month old in our party!
We had a great time at Dart Lookout. The house was very comfortable and in a wonderful location. The views were spectacular. We loved the living/dining area and the comfy beds. It was a brilliant place for our family of six to get together. A lovely pub at the end of the road and the town a short walk away. Fabulous 😍
Absolutely stunning property with amazing views of the Dart. Location is great 15 minute walk to town centre or 8 minute ferry journey from quay 200 yards from property. Lots of out door space to enjoy and has a cinema room. Quality of internal fittings are great and has a fully functional kitchen with everything you need to cook. Will be returning next year. Dartmouth itself is an absolute delight with lots of great restaurants and cafes.
Lovely house in a great location with superb views back towards Dartmouth. House had everything we needed to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable.
Compact but well-equipped room with useful small storage drawers fitted within the structure of the bunk beds. Top bunk accessed via built- in stairs. Torch, towels, hairdryer, kettle, tea/ coffee and cups, over - bed lights, clock, TV & toiletries all present in room. Accompanying retriever had enough floor space to stretch out next to bed. Close to Bayards Cove for nocturnal dog walk. Breakfast at Alf Resco superb. Ideal for short stay. Will book again.
Fantastic Captain's Quarters, love staying here. Beautiful place and the most outstanding views of our favourite part of Dartmouth. Superb hosting by Devon Escapes, and a special thank you to Paul who even though he's busy being the big boss, was exceptionally kind and helpful on bank holiday Sunday night when I locked us out! Absolutely Amazing! We loved our stay at no.9, really spacious and very well equipped for our family. And not forgetting the most beautiful view, our boys loved watching the boats & steam train. We will definitely be back 🙂
We had a wonderful stay with YDE staying at the beautiful lodge number 2 on the Dartmouth golf and leisure estate. The lodge was beautifully clean and everything brand new. Location was directly on a wonderful championship golf course and excellent value as well as a spa, pool and gym all on site. We also loved sitting outside on the patio in the evening sun in between dips in the hot tub. Pure luxury!! Woodlands adventure park just down the road and the location was brilliant for all the best South Hams beaches and towns. A simply wonderful stay will definitely be booking with YDE again especially if lodge 2 Dartmouth grove is free in the week we are! Thanks so much for a lovely stay!
I had a great few days staying at Alf Resco's captains cabin. The view was wonderful and accommodation was well equipped. The cafe below, offered a wide range of delicious food and the staff were very attentive. I will be returning again. Thank you.

Hi Paul, the family has a great week at Spindrift and this was the second time we visited. We know Thurlestone very well, having owned until recently, a second home in Thurlestone. The grandchildren loved everything and, as far as they are concerned we will be back next year. Please could you pencil us in for the same week, last in July, in 2026
Paul the host was fantastic. We checked in early which was great to be able to freshen up. Any request was attended to immediately. The breakfast was quality produce, fresh and cooked perfectly. We were on the first floor but that does mean 3 flights down to the cafe and 3 back up! This is easily overcome by walking around the back and up one flight only. You are 2 mins away from the harbour and right in the centre of town, no steep hills to climb. Lovely big opening windows in the bedroom. The only thing i feel could be improved would be a more supportive mattress as i suffer with my back (but i am fussy). This was overall a great value for money accommodation and i would highly recommend for a peaceful nights sleep.
Just back from an amazing stay at the galions quay house in dartmouth . Both the house and views were stunning and can highly recommend , the house had everything needed and was only a 20 minute sea view walk into the centre of dartmouth , and a 5 minute walk to dartmouth castle and a couple minutes more to the beautiful castle and sugary cove which is great for a swim . Great communication also with helpful information and will definitely use again .
Really lovely homely bungalow in a perfect location in Kingsbridge. We had perfect weather so spent a lot of time in the beautiful landscaped garden. Also within driving distance by distance of great beaches - South Milton, then a walk to Hope Cove, Slapton Sands; Although the narrow lanes and high hedges aren’t for the faint hearted!!! Used the bus from Kingsbridge bus station to Salcombe and the ferry back. Stunning place. Food great at The Warehouse and Pizza and beer and location great at The Crabshell!! We will be back!!! Thanks for a perfect week.
I highly recommend this place — truly a home away from home. The apartment is beautiful and exceptionally clean, with thoughtful attention to every detail. The bedding and pillows give a luxurious, hotel-like feel. Water pressure is excellent, and hot water is consistently available. The kitchen is well-equipped with high-quality utensils and appliances. We also appreciated the lovely welcome pack with tea, coffee, sugar, jam — and even toys for the kids! The host was kind and responsive, with excellent communication. Check-in was smooth and effortless. The only minor downside is the number of stairs leading up to the apartment — something to consider for those with limited mobility.
Beautiful property with enclosed garden, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and three bathrooms. We had a great week here and would highly recommend staying here.
