As we start the new year and 2025 came to a close, we wanted to take a step back and look at the year, not just through headline figures, but through what those numbers actually mean for property owners.
In the holiday letting industry, big numbers are often used to impress. But the devil is in the detail.
What are agents’ actual occupancy rates really running at?
How many properties are behind those figures?
And how much attention does each individual home truly receive?
At Your Devon Escape, we believe transparency matters. So let’s dive deeper.
Our Year in Real Terms
2025 saw us begin with 23 properties and every figure we share is based on this carefully managed portfolio, not hundreds of listings where individual homes can easily get lost.
As the year progressed, we grew steadily:
- 6 properties joined us at the end of April
- Another 6 joined in August
- We finished the year with 42 properties in total
This growth has been deliberate. We don’t expand for the sake of numbers, we grow only when we can maintain performance, care, and hands-on service for every property.
Performance That Stands Up to Scrutiny
Across our portfolio in 2025:
- Our highest-performing property achieved 245 booked nights
- Our lowest-performing property, a bunk-bed room, still achieved 95 nights, comfortably above the 70-night business viability benchmark
- Our average across all properties was 135 booked nights for the year
These are real results, based on real properties, managed day to day by our local team.
When you hear impressive averages elsewhere, it’s worth asking:
How many properties are included in that figure and where does yours sit within it?
Why the Detail Matters
Large agencies often rely on portfolio-wide averages. But averages can hide underperforming properties and reduce the focus on individual homes.
At Your Devon Escape:
- Your property isn’t competing with hundreds of others internally
- Performance is reviewed property by property, not lost in data
- Pricing, presentation, and availability are actively managed
This attention to detail is what drives consistent bookings, even for smaller or more niche properties.
The Power of Being a Small Business
We’re proud to be a small, independent Devon-based letting company. That means:
- You won’t get lost in a long list of properties
- You deal with a local team on the ground, not a remote call centre
- Decisions are made quickly and personally
- Your property is treated as a priority, not a number
We know our owners. We know our properties. And we understand our guests.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we move into 2026, our focus remains the same:
- Sustainable, sensible growth
- Honest, transparent reporting
- Strong performance driven by hands-on management
If you’re a property owner looking for a managing agent where the detail actually matters, we’d love to talk.
Because in this industry, the devil really is in the detail — and that’s exactly where we excel. Just listen to what our guests say.
