What is the Best Season to Visit Devon?

Devon is one of the top destinations for holiday makers in the UK throughout the year, but what season is the best time for you to visit?  That all depends on how clean you like your clobber.  Muddy winter walks followed by a pint by a log fire can be just as enjoyable as sand between your toes.  Summer months might have the best weather but if you want to visit Devon when its quieter, it’s probably best to avoid this season.  Winter is cosy and Devon is always full of Christmas cheer, but it won’t provide you with a sunbathing beach holiday if that’s what you are craving.  So, what season should you visit Devon?  Keep reading as we go through the seasons to help you decide when is best to book Your Devon Escape.

Winter

Devon is full of lots of Christmas cheer in winter.  With lots of winter events such as lantern festivals and Christmas light switch ons, there is so much to get involved in through the winter months.  If you fancy doing a spot of Christmas shopping, there are lots of independent and unique shops for you to find the something special for someone special.  Or head to one of the many Christmas markets, enjoy some mulled wine, a delicious bite to eat, and pick up a unique gift from the fabulous stalls.

The weather may not be the warmest or driest during the winter months, but there is something special about wrapping up at this time of year.  Put the coat, gloves, and hat on and take a stroll along the coast path, through the idyllic towns and villages or along the beach.  Watch the waves crash onto the beaches and cliffs and, if the sea is calm, take an icy plunge.  We promise you won’t be the only one, with locals loving a sea swim at all times of the year.  The weather is also a lot milder than lots of other areas of the UK, so think of it as a winter escape from your winter and come down our way to warm up!

Devon is a lot quieter during the winter than at other points of the year.  So, if you want to enjoy all that this county has to offer without having to share it with too many other people book Your (winter) Devon Escape.
