Teignmouth

Teignmouth is a seaside town located in Devon, finding itself on the north bank of the estuary of the River Teign.  It is home to beautiful sandy beaches, and historic Georgian houses.  There is lots to do within this picturesque town, from walks, to great pubs and seafood, and lots of arts and culture to explore.  A short drive from all our properties, check out our recommendations below for what to do on a day out in Teignmouth on Your Devon Escape.

CATCH THE FERRY TO SHALDON

Catch this historic ferry across the mouth of the River Teign.  It is a passenger ferry which operates a continuous daily service between Teignmouth and Shaldon.  The ferry operates all year round, with a restricted service during the winter months.  Dogs, bicycles, and prams are welcome on board, but be aware that the ferry is accessed via the beach on both sides.  Take a trip over to admire the beautiful beach huts located along the water’s edge, and stroll through the quaint town of Shaldon.

TEIGNMOUTH PAVILIONS

The Pavilions is a contemporary performing arts centre, home to theatre shows, comedy nights, dance, and film.  It is a cultural hub for Teignmouth and the surrounding areas, promoting creative, social, and economic growth.  Head to their website to find out what’s on during Your Devon Escape, and book to see some contemporary culture one evening.

TEIGNMOUTH TOWN BEACH

A long sandy beach runs all the way from the mouth of the River Teign to Holcombe, further down the coast.  Whether you simply want a stroll, a dip in the sea or a day at the beach, Teignmouth is the place for you.  Stroll along the Victorian Promenade and Pier, watch the fishing boats heading out to sea, or lie and bathe in the sun.  Admire the colourful buildings along the seafront, stop for an ice cream at one of the many kiosks positioned along the promenade, or try a water sport from the beach.  With lots to do on this stretch of beach, be sure to check it out on Your Devon Escape, and for other beach recommendations, be sure to head to our journal.
