The Dart Music Festival was set up over twenty years ago. It is an annual event held over three days each year in Dartmouth. The event was initially set up to extend the tourist season, but it has grown into huge event with over one hundred acts performing across twenty venues in Dartmouth town centre. It is a huge event for music lovers, visitors, and locals.
There are both open-aired performances and performances held within various venues across town during the Dart Music Festival. These include Bayard’s Cove Fort, various pubs and restaurants, and the Old Market Square. The centre of the event is the Bandstand in Royal Avenue Gardens where they have a selection of different performances happening across the weekend. This includes school performances, folk, rock, indie, acoustic, jazz and more. Bring down your camping chairs and picnic blankets and find yourself a base for the weekend to sit back and enjoy the music.
Or if you want to explore the town whilst enjoying the music, it’s a good thing that the whole town is involved. With music located in various venues across the town, simply follow the music and wander through. With performances in many of the pubs, along the embankment, in the churches, in the Flavel Centre and more, do the rounds and find your favourite whilst seeing all that Dartmouth has to offer. Pop into a few shops between tunes, stop for a cup of coffee or a bite to eat, or grab a pint and have a boogie. With so many genres of music and different artists playing over the course of the weekend, there is bound to be a performance for everyone!
Make sure to grab a programme or download the app to find out all the line up and venue information. Each a small fee to purchase but all the money is reinvested into the next year’s music festival with it being a not-for-profit, free event to all. You will find programmes in most cafés and shops across Dartmouth. If somewhere doesn’t have one, they will be able to point you in the direction of somewhere that does!
