Croyde

Croyde is the surfing capital of North Devon with great family facilities and a vibrant, friendly atmosphere.  The village is magical with superb sandy beaches and spectacular scenery.  It is steeped in old-world charm, boasting several thatched cottages.  The pretty village is one of North Devon’s most renowned seaside locations.  Be sure to check the village out on Your Devon Escape.

Croyde is a wonderful place to visit if you are a water sports lover.  The village is known as a surfing mecca, so wherever you are there are numerous places to hire equipment and arrange lessons.  Just be careful whatever activities you decide to try as the rip currents at the beach are quite strong.  If you are feeling adventurous, why not explore the coast with a coasteering session or book yourself onto a rockpool ramble to discover more about the local marine wildlife.

Whilst the village is primarily known for its surf, it has so much more to offer.  The centre is a hub of lovely places to eat, with many venues offering locally sourced, seasonal produce on their menus.  And being part of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is home to several nature trails and coastal walks.  There are accessible walks for all ages and abilities with breath taking views.  One of the most popular walking trails is Baggy Point.

Croyde’s sheltered bay, on-site facilities and lifeguard presence makes the village a great family destination.  Croyde Beach is the middle section of a trio of beautiful sandy beaches, including Saunton Sands and Woolacombe Sands.  All three beaches are popular by families.  The bay is home to several large sand dunes, with sand lining the route into the village.

The beach hosts regular events during the summer months.  Check out one of their deckchair cinema nights during the summer months.  Sit back and relax on the dunes whilst watching a family friendly classic.  Or be in town for the ever-popular Gold Coast Oceanfest.  This annual festival grows year on year, with chart topping music acts providing the entertainment alongside a full weekend of water sports and outdoor adventures.  The village is a popular destination for holidaymakers with lots of activities to help you experience a real adventure on your stay.  Be sure to check out the village on Your Devon Escape.
