Brixham is the perfect destination for adventure.  With the stunning coast path, rolling hills and a busy town centre, how do you know where to start when picking an adventure.  We have created a list of our favourite adventurous things to do in Brixham.  Keep reading to find out more!

Coleton Fishacre

The home of the D’Oyly Carte family was built in the Arts and Crafts style and is filled with Art Deco elegance.  Visit the home and travel back to the Jazz Age of the 1920s.  Get an insight into the life of the wealth during the era, from the glamorous Saloon and the airy servants’ rooms.  If the home isn’t for you, then take a walk through the grounds.  With glimpses out to sea, weave through the plants from across the globe and tranquil ponds as you wander along the paths.  Whilst staying in the town, this is one of the most wholesome things to do in Brixham to visit.

Greenway

The home of author Agatha Christie, explore the house and gardens that she once resided in.  The house is set in the 1950s. Step back in time and visit the house that Christie spent summers and Christmases.  It is full of vast collections of novels, ceramics, silvers and more collected by Christie’s family over the years.  Explore the history pre-Christie.  Explore the garden and boathouse, wandering down to the river edge.  Look out across the Dart estuary towards Dittisham and why not even hop on the ferry across to explore the village.  If you are looking for local history, culture and exploration on Your Devon Escape, then this is the place to go.

Grenville House

For those adrenaline adventure seekers, Grenville is the place for you.  Located by the harbour, Grenville is accessible by those staying in the town or coming from further afield. Offering group outdoor activities including kayaking, raft building, climbing and high ropes plus more, there is an activity for everyone at Grenville. Book a private session or join an activity or course they are running whilst on Your Devon Escape.  They offer group activities for both young people and adults.  Check out their website to find out how to book your adventure in Brixham today.

Shoalstone Seawater Pool

Shoalstone Pool is a 53-metre sea water swimming pool located on Brixham seafront.  It was built into a natural rockpool during Victorian times.  It is one of the few sea pools in the UK.  Whether it’s a hot day and you fancy a cooling off, or you simply fancy a cold yet refreshing dip, this pool is the ideal location.  A short walk from the centre of town, stop for a bite to eat before or after your dip.  Look out to sea and admire the views across Torbay as you enjoy your leisurely swim.  This is one of the most unique things to do in Brixham. Be sure to check it out.

South West Coast Path

The coastline of Brixham is dominated by one thoroughfare, the South West Coast Path.  If you fancy an adventure in nature whilst watching the boats sail past, the coast path is your place.  With walks of varying lengths to choose from, check out our journal for recommendations.  Enjoy beach views and clifftops whilst watching the boats go by.  Look for birds or keep your eyes peeled for dolphins and seals swimming about.  Stop at one of the many beaches along the way and take a dip.  Be sure to check out Berry Head Nature Reserve.
