Description
NEW! Discover The River Shack, a unique holiday home in Teignmouth set on the tranquil shores of the River Teign. With sweeping estuary views to Dartmoor, this charming two-bedroom retreat offers a cosy Aga kitchen, wood burner, freestanding bath, and private garden with seasonal fruit. Perfect for couples or families, enjoy kayaking, fishing, and nearby pubs, all from your riverside escape.
Space
The River Shack sleeps up to four guests. The master bedroom features a king-size bed overlooking the estuary and comes with its own Smart TV, while the second bedroom offers two singles, also with smart TV, perfect for children or friends. The kitchen is home to an Aga for cosy, home-cooked meals, and the dining table is thoughtfully positioned in the heart of the space, offering the perfect spot to gather while enjoying uninterrupted river views.
The main bathroom includes a freestanding bath for long, luxurious soaks, and there is also a separate shower for convenience. A utility room provides both a washing machine and a tumble dryer, making longer stays comfortable and stress-free.
In the living area, a wood burner creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a sofa and two comfortable chairs perfectly placed to soak in the ever-changing estuary views. Entertainment is taken care of too, with a lounge TV offering a Smart TV (non-Terrestrial) to help enjoy those cosy evenings in.
Outside, a private garden and summer house provide the perfect setting for morning coffee or sunset drinks. The rear garden is also home to wonderful seasonal fruit, adding a special touch for guests during the growing months. At high tide, you can watch boats and paddleboarders glide by, while low tide reveals mudflats rich with birdlife.
Whether you’re after a couples’ retreat, a family getaway, or simply a chance to slow down by the water, The River Shack offers a truly unforgettable stay on the Teign Estuary.
Notes
Parking is restricted to using the pub car park. From there it's approximately a 5 minute walk to the property. We advise that you consider travelling light as to not have to carry too much along the footpath.
High Tides:
Due to the nature of where the property is located we strongly advise that you consult local tide times. During high or Spring tides part of the access path can flood so we advise you consider bringing a pair of wellies just in case.
Mud Flats:
When the tide goes out patrolling the mud flats can be great fun but we urge parents to not let children wander around unsupervised given the mud flats can be both boggy and in places deep.
Winter/Evenings:
We advise that you bring with you a torch of some sort as the estuary pathway isn't lit.
High Chair & Travel Cot:
We ask that you bring your own with you if you require them.
Rental Conditions:
Prior to your stay, we require you to complete a pre-arrival form and sign & agree to our rental conditions.
Neighborhood
Just 500 yards away, you’ll find the locally renowned Coombe Cellars pub, offering indoor and outdoor seating with a fantastic menu overlooking the water. A short stroll from there is The Wood Shed, a relaxed café-style spot ideal for brunches, light lunches, or coffee breaks during your stay.
Ideally located, The River Shack is close to the friendly village of Shaldon and just a short drive from Teignmouth’s beaches, shops, cafés, and restaurants. Newton Abbot offers further amenities, including direct rail links to London Paddington. For outdoor enthusiasts, the property sits right on the Templar Way walking route, which links Dartmoor to the South West Coast Path.
