Two Weeks to Go Until the End of the Summer Holidays…

GUESS WHO ADOPTION DONKEY SUMMER TRAIL

Can you figure out which donkeys are hiding behind the stable doors?  Soak up the sun on this summer trail, find the clues and uncover the hidden identities.  Match the donkeys up to their traits and receive a prize.  Combine family fun, exercise and brain power before the summer is up, with this family-friendly trail.  After you’ve completed the trail, be sure to check out the new play area, head to a talk or exhibit and explore the donkeys.  Dogs are welcome at the sanctuary, so bring your pooch along.  Enjoy this educational day out this summer holiday on Your Devon Escape.

SHALDON REGATTA

Shaldon Regatta runs from this Sunday to Bank Holiday Monday.  The regatta is over 200 years old and offers fun for all the family.  It all started with a rowing race between Teignmouth and Shaldon 250 years ago.  There are over 130 events, on both land and sea.  Both individual and team events for all abilities.  It is a wonderful time for locals and visitors to mingle and form new acquaintances to be revisited.  The emphasise is on involving children on the water in a competitive but safe way for anyone who wants to take part.  If water or beach sports are your thing, be sure to check this regatta out on Your Devon Escape.

SPARKY’S WOODLAND ADVENTURE AT DARTMOOR ZOO

Sparky the Dragon has lost his belongings and needs your help to find them and save his summer travels.  Follow the Zoo trail, mark off where you’ve found his items and find Sparky.  Once you’ve completed the trail be sure to check out the rest of the zoo.  It has its own unique history and story.  It is a charity with an education and research department making it the perfect environment for learning.  With not long left of the summer holidays, take the kids for a fun-filled day out.

SUMMER EVENING ILLUMINATIONS AT BABBACOMBE MODEL VILLAGE

Every Tuesday and Thursday evening for the rest of summer, enjoy the evening illuminations at Babbacombe Model Village.  With thousands of miniature lights along with special fire and lighting effects, its an enchanting atmosphere for all ages to experience.  Head to the village just before sunset to enjoy the experience in the light and the dark.  With only two weeks left of the summer holidays, be sure to catch it before it’s over on Your Devon Escape.

TORBAY ROYAL REGATTA

The Torbay Royal Regatta is being held this weekend.  It is the oldest royal regatta in the country offering a combination of land and water events.  Take part or spectate in sailing, rowing, running, and swimming.  There are activities to take part in for all ages with an excellent firework display to round off the event.  If you find yourself in Devon for the end of the summer holidays, this is a well-known event to check out.

TOTNES SUMMER FAIR

Happening this Wednesday the 23rd of August in the Market Square and Civic Hall, come and enjoy a day of family fun.  With traditional summer games, vintage rides, live music and entertainment, delicious street food and more, don’t miss out on this traditional summer event.  The whole event is free for all and has activities and entertainment for all ages.  The fair has stalls with collections of local giftware and artisan crafts for you to find the perfect holiday momentum to take home.  With not long left of the summer holidays, find the perfect something to remember this summer on Your Devon Escape.

THE PORT OF DARTMOUTH ROYAL REGATTA

Starting this weekend with the rowing heats, and the official opening ceremony on the 23rd of August, step into the festivities of the Dartmouth Regatta.  This well-known regatta attracts thousands of visitors from all over.  It is one of the oldest regattas in the country, with rowing and sailing at its core.  Spectate or get involved in the various races, competitions and events taking place during the week.  From a road race to a tennis tournament and swimming gala.  Or ice cream eating, crabbing and pavement artist competitions.  There is lots to choose from.  There is an excellent firework display alongside live music and a fair in the Dartmouth carpark.  There is always so much going on for all ages to enjoy!
